Wizlon just registered the 500th high score for Geo Wars!  Cheesy Leaderboard Stats

I see some good competition and amazing scores on some levels too!  Grin

How about a feature where we can save a high score temporarily to the card and then upload it to the online leaderboards at a later time?

I don't have Internet at home but would like to be able to submit my scores sometimes.

There was another homebrew game released recently that had this feature, so I can't be the only one who would appreciate it in GeoWars.

The problem being that you could cheat very easily :/ Requires a better score encryption Azn

Yeah...I would have had to do some kind of encryption, or at a mininum, encoding of the data stored in the .sav file to prevent people from cheating.   Sad

If you recall the name of the other homebrew that has this capability - please let me know - I'd be interested in seeing it. Azn

Re: the leaderboard
I am looking at enhancing the leaderboard to add some new responsetypes. I plan to add, in the near future, a method for the ds to retrieve the top 10 scores without registering a score to allow "browsing" of scores. Maybe I could add a type that places your highest score in the ranks of the online leaderboard, but doesn't register the score.  So you could at least see what position you placed right on your ds.

Overall, it may be a good idea to look at encryption and building a sample project so that dev'rs can encrypt their save file...but not sure how feasible this is....cause I haven't spent any time on it....  Undecided

By the way - not sure if anyone noticed, but I stole some dev-fr javascript/css from the news page to expand/contract the results for different levels.  Makes browsing the scores a little more readable! (Thanks dev-fr javascript/css dudes!) Grin

sumiguchi, maybe you should get in touch with X-Blaster. I assume he used some kind of encryption with his latest game Meteora.

would be a good thing to be able to upload scores later after playing, i have a highscore i made while i was working and i can't upload it :/ (mission 1, 1 455 000 or something like that)

in 2 of my wifi highscores homebrews, i use a .sav file to store highscores, and you can upload your scores when you want

the sav file is a binary file (you can't edit it with notepad or other) and when i upload a score, i check various keycodes to make sure the score is not faked Smiley

Are you accepting applications - sounds like the kind of job that suits me  Grin...nevermind that I am working right now as I post this... *whistle*

I don't believe it!  Tongue  Just kidding - but the option is ALWAYS there to beat your high score in a wifi zone and submit it! Wink

Ok - I guess I didn't think too much about this option for submitting scores.  It seems there are probably several ways to encrypt/encode the data in some way so that it is not easily altered.  Thanks for the suggestions Smiley

Yes... it has similar play to Geometry Wars...  Roll Eyes

Anyone who liked my game should really checkout Geometry Wars for the 360.  It's also scheduled to be released for the wii and the ds.  Here is some ds in game footage of a very early build for e3: http://www.dsfanboy.com/2007/08/13/check-out-some-footage-of-geometry-wars-on-the-ds/

Well, after seeing the DS footage, I don't think it worth buying... Your version seems to have the same gameplay (this one seems slower thus easier though Tongue ), look as great, have online leaderboard, ... I don't know what this comercial will have to add Tongue

This Game is so AWESOME. You guys rock. Thank you very much for this fine piece.  Afro
By the way, I´m "Sebi" on the leaderboard.  Shocked
Magnifique!

edit: I´m stuck on Mission 6, with the male character. Will the game go on when I succeed in this mission, because the girl can´t go any further than mission 6 right now...

Thanks Sebi! Cheesy

What do you mean you can't go any further than mission 6 with the girl??  Are you sure?  If you beat mission 6, mission 7 is unlocked.  (Mission 7 is to the left a little and below misssion 6).

For both players you can go to mission 10.  Cheers & good luck!
